It’s a busy week on your favorite streaming platforms, and there’s so much new content to dive into, you’ll be glad you have that giant bowl of candy left over from last weekend.
Several streamers will see major premieres, such as Apple TV, which has every Vince Gilligan fan on pins and needles waiting for the showrunner’s new series Pluribus. There’s also a new Michael Shannon series on Netflix, as well as the highly anticipated Frankenstein reimagining by Guillermo del Toro. Plus, Hulu is playing host to a high-powered legal drama featuring a heavy-hitting cast of female leads. Oh, and I can’t forget the streaming premiere of Marvel’s First Family, The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Crutch
A new CBS Original Comedy, Crutch is a half-hour, multi-camera sitcom about a Harlem shop owner and widower named Francois “Frank” Crutchfield (Tracy Morgan, of The Last OG). As an empty nester, his freedom is eradicated when his highbrow millennial son and free-spirited daughter move back home, with grandkids in tow.
Crutch is also cousin to Calvin Butler from the show The Neighborhood, which is currently in its final season and recently featured the introduction of Morgan’s character. This means Crutch is set in that same universe and serves as a direct spin-off of The Neighborhood. In case you’re wondering, Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer) and wife Tina (Tichina Arnold), along with neighbor and very distant relative Dave (Max Greenfield), will guest star throughout the spin-off.

Comedian Leanne Morgan steps back on the stage with some fresh southern comedy in her new special Leanne Morgan: Unspeakable Things.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps
It’s a big week for Disney+, who welcomed home Marvel’s First Family this week, The Fantastic Four. Making their MCU debut, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set in a 1960s-style alternative version of Earth, where our eponymous superhero team must use their combined skills to stop the rapidly approaching planet-eating villain named Galactus (Ralph Ineson, of Nosferatu) from destroying their world.
The cast includes Pedro Pascal (Eddington) as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps premiered November 5 on Disney+.

Alex vs. ARod
If you’re interested in exploring the dualities of one of Major League Baseball’s most controversial figures, you’re going to want to tune in for this HBO Original Documentary centered on Alex Rodriguez.
Alex vs. ARod tracks how the current businessman’s sports career exploded as he rose to the pinnacle of athletic success, then how it all came crashing down the second that scandal appeared. In January 2013, the Miami New Times published documents leaked from the Biogenesis of America clinic that implicated Rodriguez, among others, in a major doping scheme. A months-long investigation resulted in his suspension for a whopping 211 games, citing the use of performance-enhancing drugs and subsequent attempts to obstruct justice.

Death by Lightning
Presenting the stranger-than-fiction true story of James Garfield, who rose from obscurity to reluctantly become America’s 20th president, Death by Lighting is an historical mini-drama based on author Candice Millard’s Destiny of the Republic.

A must-watch Peacock Original series, this mystery thriller promises lots of twists and super-thick tension. All Her Fault follows a mother whose life unravels when her son disappears after a playdate. The show is based on the bestselling novel by Andrea Mara.
When Marissa Irvine (Sarah Snook, of Succession) goes to pick up her son from his first playdate, a woman she doesn’t recognize answers the door. What’s worse is that this woman has no idea who Marissa’s son is—she’s never even heard of him. As the young mother begins to unravel, her questions reveal cracks in her family’s seemingly perfect world that are this close to shattering. It is literally every parent’s worst nightmare.

Pluribus
Everyone has been waiting for the arrival of Apple TV’s Pluribus, and there’s a hot reason why. It hails from the famed mind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Vince Gilligan.
Set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the nine-episode genre-bending sci-fi series follows Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn, of Better Call Saul), an historical romance author who also happens to be the most miserable person on the planet. When an unexplained virus seeps into the world’s population and transforms everyone into annoyingly happy optimists, Carol is the only one to remain unscathed. As the sole voice of dissension, she finds herself stuck in a world that wants not only to understand but also to replicate her immunity. As such, she’s tasked with saving the world from … wait for it … total happiness. I’ll bring the popcorn.
