Colony
Family obligations versus alien collaboration
If you’re in the mood for an addictive sci-fi drama featuring an alien invasion, look no further than Colony, which is steadily rocking a 92% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes a full decade after it first premiered. Josh Holloway (Lost) and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break) star.
In the not-too-distant future, Los Angeles has been invaded and occupied by mysterious outside forces—i.e., aliens—and quickly becomes a walled-in settlement and soon creates a rift between city residents. While some have collaborated with the occupation, others are rebelling and suffering the consequences. After former FBI agent Will Bowman (Holloway) and his wife, Katie (Callies), are separated from their son, a cunning government leader offers Will the opportunity to get his son back if he works with the invading faction. If they want to stay together and survive, the Bowmans must decide if it’s worth risking everything.
The alluring sci-fi drama depicts the worst-case scenario—an alien invasion of Earth, where extraterrestrials take over and subjugate humanity. It’s worth watching for its grounded, tense exploration of life under authoritarian invasion and focus on family survival, moral ambiguity, and intelligent storytelling. In choosing to divert focus from constant CGI battles, the series offers a realistic look at resistance and collaboration.

Siren’s Kiss
A suspected serial killer’s game of cat-and-mouse
Suspicion, revenge, and love collide in Siren’s Kiss, a 2026 series based on the 1999 Japanese television show Koori no Sekai. The Korean romantic thriller follows an insurance fraud investigator tracking multiple deaths tied to an alluring auctioneer. If you aren’t fluent in Korean, don’t worry – the series is available with English subtitles and dubbing.
When a pattern emerges involving the mysterious deaths of her former lovers, high-profile art auctioneer Han Selo-ah (Healer’s Park Min-young) becomes the center of a criminal investigation. As elite special investigator Cha Woo-seok (Squid Game’s Wi Ha-joon) rigorously pursues Han as the primary suspect, he finds himself increasingly entangled in a psychological tug-o’-war with her, wherein he must determine if she’s a lethal siren orchestrating deaths for profit or a victim of a sophisticated conspiracy. He’s also falling in love with her.
Siren’s Kiss isn’t just about romance and seduction. It’s a dark story about obsession, art forgery, and insurance fraud thriving on doubt, with a delectable narrative combining high-stakes mystery and melodrama with stylish cinematography and compelling character dynamics. Moody tension, deadly manipulation, psychological depth, and electric chemistry effectively drive this dangerous, slow-burn romance that occasionally features humorous investigation.

Bait
A paranoid thriller mixed with Bollywood exuberance
Currently one of the top Prime Video TV shows is the newly released satirical comedy Bait. The show dropped on the platform March 26 and has already garnered an astounding 97% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. Oscar and Emmy winner Riz Ahmed (The Night Of) created and stars in the six-part limited series.
Shah Latif (Ahmed) is a struggling British Pakistani actor in London set to audition for the role of James Bond. The only problem is that his audition falls amid public backlash and family drama, which triggers an existential crisis. Over the course of four wild days, after auditioning for what he knows is the role of a lifetime, Shah finds his life spiraling out of control as he struggles to find his way, with the entire world weighing in on whether they think he’s the right man for the job.
Ahmed delivers an award-worthy performance, inserting his own vulnerability into a story about a hot-mess actor. The show’s sharp, funny dialogue replaces traditional sitcom tropes and offers a fresh (outsider’s) look at the entertainment industry through explorations of identity, fame, and mental health. Creative storytelling, relatable themes of shame and ambition, and breezy 30-minute episodes make the show an alluring binge-watch.
