Pebble has posted a teaser for a product reveal scheduled for January 2nd at 10am EST. The company hasn’t said what it is, but the timing and format strongly suggest this is one of the three unreleased devices mentioned in our earlier report.
The teaser shows a circular loading animation and the phrase “Check back around,” a prompt that’s already triggered speculation among fans.
This is likely the first of the unreleased three
In our previous article, we reported that three additional devices were in development at Pebble. That followed a year of revived hardware, including the Pebble 2 Duo, Pebble Time 2 and most recently the Index 01 smart ring.
But at least three further devices exist as early engineering samples, distinct from the current lineup. This teaser fits the timeline.
One theory gaining traction is that this points to a round watch. The language in the teaser and the visual motif both suggest a return to a circular form factor. That would make sense. A modernised Pebble Time Round, built on the updated colour e-paper tech and Time 2 internals, is something fans would love to see.
But that’s not the only plausible read. In our original report, we laid out several other possibilities for what those three unreleased devices might be. Beyond watches, a pendant notification wearable is a possibility. So is a compact media player, a PebbleOS desk companion or a cyberdeck concept. Even the long-rumoured small Android phone is still on the table.
Community reaction is split
Many are excited. Some are cautious. A few are openly frustrated.
Reddit threads quickly filled with calls for a round watch. Some users said they’d be disappointed if this ends up being another single-purpose device like the Index 01. Others said they don’t really care what it is as long as Pebble keeps making things that feel different.
One recurring theme is fitness tracking. Several users argued that if Pebble wants its devices to be used every day, especially as alternatives to Apple or Garmin, it needs better health data, waterproofing and battery performance.
A few users pointed to Migicovsky’s own blog post about why Pebble failed the first time. They warned that the current pace feels rushed. That the company might be repeating some of the same mistakes.
At the other end of the spectrum are those who want Pebble to stay weird. They’re not looking for VO2Max or third-party apps. They just want unique, minimal hardware that doesn’t try to be like everything else. These users tend to view the current pace as a strength. Pebble isn’t reacting to trends. It’s following its own roadmap.
What we don’t know yet what the three products are, we do know is that January 2nd should offer the first hard detail about what Pebble has been building behind the scenes. Whether it’s a round Time 2, a desk device or something no one saw coming, this is the moment where the roadmap starts to get real.
