Pickle has launched its new smart glass, the Pickle 1, in the market. It’s a pair of new AR glasses that aims to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) deeper into everyday life through augmented reality. The California-based startup describes itself as more than wearable hardware. The product is classified as a personal digital companion that observes, remembers, and assists users throughout the day.
Pickle 1 smart glass aims to redefine everyday life
AI has already started integrating into the consumer eyewear segment. The recently launched Meta smart glasses, in partnership with Ray-Ban, also bring a slew of AI features. However, Pickle follows a slightly different approach with its Pickle 1 smart glass. In a post on X, the company explained that Pickle 1 functions as a so-called soul computer. The product is designed to remember everything the user sees and hears.
The goal is to create a continuous stream of personal context that the wearer can recall when needed. The smart glasses are said to be powered by the company’s own Pickle OS. As per the official claim, the software collects context from multiple sources each day and organizes it into a single usable cluster. What’s even more interesting is that the Pickle 1 is claimed to have an infinite memory. It can surface past sights or conversations at the exact moment they become useful.
The product keeps the user’s privacy in check
Pickle says that the user interaction will take place through animated avatars that speak with users. This will eliminate the need for manual voice commands or prompts. Moreover, the company has claimed that the Pickle 1 focuses on usability and security. The glasses have a built-in fingerprint scanner, which ensures that only the owner can unlock them.
As for privacy, Pickle says all the data is encrypted by default and is decrypted only inside a hardware-isolated enclave. The personal data of the user is not stored or used for any training purposes. The glasses feature a full-color display and are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. It weighs about 68 grams. Further, the device is claimed to provide a battery backup of up to 12 hours on a single full charge.
Regarding availability, the Pickle 1 is now available for pre-order in the United States at $799, with deliveries expected to commence in the second quarter of the year.
