It’s been just over a month since Stranger Things ended, but we’re not saying goodbye just yet. The first TV spinoff for Netflix’s sci-fi series is coming in Tales from ’85, done up in a mix of CG and 3D animation.
Developed by Eric Robles and Flying Bark with involvement from the Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy, the spinoff is set between the second and third seasons during the winter. Instead of enjoying the snow like kids usually do, the Hawkins gang have more Upside Down monsters to fight, in particular a pumpkin-headed beast that Dustin thinks survived the events of the previous season.
Showrunner Eric Robles previously teased Tales from ’85 would reverberate back to the original Stranger Things in some way. But the biggest change comes with its characters: no one from the original show has come back to voice their animated version. So our cast includes Brett Gibson as Hopper, Luca Diaz as Mike, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Elisha Williams as Max, Ben Plessala as Will, and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max. Notable guest stars include Janeane Garofalo, Odessa A’zion, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
Look for Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 to hit Netflix on April 23.
