Amazfit has announced the launch of its latest smartwatch called the T-Rex Ultra 2, a rugged watch built for outdoor enthusiasts who need something that stands up to the rigors of an active outdoor lifestyle. Amazfit says its watch was “engineered for the extreme,” and incorporates several features and design elements that reflect that. It’s the next T-Rex watch following the T-Rex 3 that was launched in 2024, which itself was essentially Amazfit’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Ultra 2, as well as similar rugged wearables.
“The T-Rex Ultra 2 is built for uncertainty—designed to remain reliable in conditions where plans, environments, and outcomes are never fully defined,” Amazfit says. It was designed with the intention for users who not only seek adventure, but do so in places that few others might traverse. To that end, the T-Rex Ultra 2 is fitted with several outdoor-focused features like 10-ATM water-resistance, up to 30 days of battery life, and full-color global maps.
The T-Rex Ultra 2 was also made with more durable materials, such as a grade 5 titanium case and back. Additionally, it sports a 1.5-inch AMOLED display that’s protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass.
The Amazfit T-Rex Ultra 2 launch begins February 19
The launch of the T-Rex Ultra 2 starts today, February 19, and the watch retails for $549.99. It’s a pretty standard price for everything this watch was designed for and offers. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, for example, was a rugged watch built for more adventurous users, and Amazfit’s other T-Rex models from past years have all been around the same price.
In addition to the specs and features listed above, Amazfit is promising up to 50 hours of battery life when the watch is in GPS mode. It has a dual-mode flashlight for low-visibility environments as well, so if you happen to be out after the sun goes down, you will have a tool to ensure you can see better.
It comes with 64GB of built-in storage for apps, map downloads, and even music if you want to listen to it directly from your watch with a pair of connected earbuds or headphones. You can buy the watch from Amazon or directly through Amazfit’s website.
