Aha, Ben Fisher’s match report is here.
Which means it’s goodnight from me. Peace out

Gosh, it’s grim in N17 isn’t it? My gut tells me Spurs won’t go down because things that seem too good to be true usually are – nothing against Spurs, it’d just be good for everyone to see a big club relegated such, and I’m sure Spurs’d feel the same about anyone else. But looking at their fixtures, you can easily make a case that they won’t get any more points.

Just another normal day in football.

I went for Reece James at right-back when picking a Premier League Underappreciated XI, but on reflection that was a bit of a cheat, and I should’ve gone for Ola Aina instead.

When you look at the players Forest have, they have no business being fifth-bottom of the Prem. You then look above them, though, and see a bunch of other sides to good to be there; the standard at the top is poor, as it is all around Europe, but the middle of the table is ridiculously strong.

FULL-TIME: Nottingham Forest (4) 1-2 (3) Fenerbahce
Forest move on 4-3 on aggregate and will face Midtjylland or Real Betis next.

90+4 min Fener did well to make a match out of this; Forest, though, had more than enough once they got most of their best players on.
Share
90+1 min “Roma, Lyon and Stuttgart all have players that can do something special, and coaches who have a clear plan and sensible tactics,” returns Kári Tulinius. “They should be in the conversation for potential winners.”
Yeah, I’m interested to see how Stuttgart get on and I’m interested in Manu Koné gets up to in the later rounds. I think it’s fair to say Villa are the best team left, but they seem to be running out of form and fitness.

90 min We’ll have four additional minutes.
Share
89 min Anderson stomps forward and, with the outside of his foot, stabs hutchinson away through the middle. His first touch takes him clear but, eager to get the ball on to his left foot, he telegraphs his finish, firing straight into Tarik.
Share
88 min Asensio drives at the heart of the Forest defence and when no one comes to meet him, he shoots low, hard and straight at Ortega, who spills the shot nevertheless.
Share
85 min “European football is creaking from the weight of its many sleeping giants,” says Kári Tulinius, “but Turkey feels unique in having so many. Fenerbache, even though they’re probably going out, have been very good this season, and the same goes for Galatasaray and Samsunspor. Maybe the Turkish clubs are finally stirring.”
Turkish football has changed a lot in my lifetime – when I was a kid, England hammered them 8-0 and 5-0, but it’s obviously not like that now. I guess the relatively poor depth in some of the bigger European leagues, and the lack of money in some of them too, is also helpful and if you’re a player, there’s a lot of fun to be had competing for titles especially if that’s not been a feature of your career.
Share
83 min There’s not much quality left in this competition, looking at the teams remaining. It’s a cup, so anything can happen, but Forest and Villa both have a good chance of doing something, though I also fancy Porto, whose manager, Francesco Farioli, knows something.
Share
82 min Palace still lead Zrinjski 2-1 on aggregate, with just two minutes of the 90 to go.
Share
79 min Hutchinson carries forward – there’s been real conviction in his play tonight – and he slides a pass forward for Jesus, who first and second touch are good, taking him between Guendouzi and Demir … he’s in! Tariq is out smartly, but he should still score … except he drills a low shot into the keeper’s sprawl.
Share
77 min Someone, Kante I think, flings a long pass at Akturkoglu, who controls well – he looks a decent player – but as he brings the ball down, it’s confiscated from him.
Share
76 min Two more changes for Fener, Brown and Cherif off with Mercan and Ekici coming on.
Share
75 min That goal has taken all the puff out of Fener and Forest are going for another, the ball breaking to Hudson-Odoi on the left edge of the box and his insta-curler scooshing just wide of the far post.
Share
72 min Sangare’s composure has made a big difference to Forest. I enjoy his simple but aggressive passing, and also his physicality.
Share
70 min Years ago now, I was on a train from London to Manchester and overheard someone I presumed to be an agent type, ostentatiously announcing that “Jadon” was further ahead in his career than “Callum”, but “Callum” was a better player than “Jadon”. Credit where it’s due, he was right.

GOAL! Nottingham Forest (4) 1-2 (2) (Hudson-Odoi 68)
Trickery out wide from Aina – what a good player he’s become and what a difference he’s made in this game – dipping inside Brown then teasing him with footwork before arcing a cross to the back post. Twelve yards out, Hudson-Odoi controls well, his first touch taking him inside, before he nips the other way, a low shot flicking off Semedo and finding the far corner. That, surely, is Forest into the galactic orb or whatever for tomorrow’s draw.

67 min Ortega still isn’t right, but if Forest bring on Angus Gunn, who’s warming up, they can’t use any more subs – and have an emergency Gibbs-White on the bench.
Share
66 min Hudson-Odoi attacks Semedo on the outside and floats a cross towards the back post … and behind.
Share
66 min Fiorentina, by the way, lost 4-2 to Jagiellonia Bialystock on the night, so go through 5-4 on aggregate.
Share
64 min Brown looks to run a ball behind, but Jesus pressurises, applies a tiny shove, and he takes the opportunity to fall over; the ref appraises a free-kick.
Share
62 min Asensio comes on in place of Oguz.
Share
61 min Aina wins it off Kante high in midfield, finds Hutchinson who skips away from Brown … only to overhit his cross.
Share
61 min Asensio is going to join us shortly. That’s a pretty decent change to have in your back pocket.
Share
59 min Ortega is fine for now and on we go.
Share
57 min A long channel-ball for Cherif, Cunha in pursuit, and Ortega races out with no serious prospect of getting it. In the event, it skids into touch, but the keeper has jiggered his calf; it’s not yet clear if he can continue.
Share
56 min He swings flat and into the middle; Tariq claims easily.
Share
55 min Forest are looking dangerous down their left, Williams finding Hudson-Odoi, who wins a corner – Anderson to take.
Share
53 min Forest have been much better since conceding the second and attack down the left, Hudson-Odoi laying back for williams, who leathers a shot that might be headed for the far corner. Guendouzi, of course, moves his phizog out of the way, calculating with perfect judgment that it’s going wide, which it is. That, or he didn’t fancy wearing one for his team.
