Amazfit appears to be readying a successor to its dedicated running watch line, with a Cheetah 2 Pro breaking cover in one of the brand’s own promotional videos.
The leak comes from Amazfit ambassador and Olympic-distance runner Grant Fisher via Instagram. In a recently shared training clip, the Zepp Health app on a nearby smartphone displays the Cheetah 2 Pro name in its connected device list.
Product names typically appear in the Zepp ecosystem only after backend software integration is complete, and, obviously, unknown whether it’s an accidental slip or deliberate tease.

The footage gives us our first look at the hardware, which seems to have undergone a notable ergonomic shift. While the original Cheetah and Cheetah Pro utilized a rotating crown for navigation, the unit shown on Fisher’s wrist features four physical buttons—two on each side.

The case remains round and sport-focused—unlike the Cheetah Square—sporting a signature red accent marker and a lightweight, breathable band. If the specs follow the previous generation’s ‘Pro’ blueprint, we can expect a titanium-alloy bezel, a high-brightness AMOLED display, and the return of the brand’s dual-band GPS system.
The Wareable take: A return to the track
Amazfit has been on a charge over the last 18 months, releasing updated versions of trackers and watches across both existing and all-new product lines. However, it’s been a long while since it delivered a dedicated running watch via the Cheetah line.
And by putting the device on an elite athlete like Fisher, Zepp is signaling that the Cheetah 2 Pro is more ‘serious’ than its other lifestyle-focused trackers, like the new Amazfit Active Max.
If they can maintain their aggressive pricing while refining the GPS accuracy—something we’re also looking to analyze with the brand’s just-announced T-Rex Ultra 2—this could be a budget running watch to watch this year. However, we’ll have to wait until Amazfit’s official confirmation before we get too excited.
