After the October 2025 update, all eligible original Pixel Watch models are now receiving a surprise new modem update. Google says the rollout will continue over the coming weeks in a phased manner, depending on carrier and device. If you’re a Pixel Watch owner, you should receive a notification on your watch once the software update becomes available.
Pixel Watch is getting a new modem update
The new March 2026 update to the original Pixel Watch includes bug fixes to improve E911 Emergency dialing behavior. The update carries the firmware/build number BW1A.260305.003, and it still runs on Wear OS 5.1 based on Android 15 OS. As a refresher, the original Pixel Watch will not receive the Wear OS 6+ update since it already fulfilled the three-year update guarantee. That said, it will receive app updates from the Play Store. Meanwhile, the Pixel Watch 2, 3, and 4 models are running the latest Wear OS 6.0.
The OTA update is not yet available on Google’s factory images website for manual installation if you can’t wait for it to hit automatically. The October 2025 update is the latest one available for the original Pixel Watch on the site. Since the announcement regarding the update came just a few hours ago, the site may update shortly.
Rolling out in phases
The rollout of the fresh update to the original Pixel wearable will continue over the coming weeks in phases. You can check for the update by heading to Settings > System > System updates. While this may not be about new features, it does include a bug fix, so it’s essential that you install it.
While it can’t be said for certain, Google may issue updates in the future if any critical issues need fixing. If you want new features and modern hardware, upgrading is your only option since the original Pixel Watch won’t receive any new improvements.
