I used UGREEN’s Thunderbolt 4-based Revodok Max 213 dock on my desk for the better part of two years now, and it has been excellent. I don’t really need a dock; I use a Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite motherboard, and it has ten USB ports in total. But I somehow have 14 USB-based devices that connect to my machine, so I decided to use the dock to extend the ports and use as an SD card.
Anyway, the dock did a great job, so I was excited when UGREEN said it was rolling out a Thunderbolt 5 variant with a new design and additional features. The Revodok Maxidok 17-in-1 Thunderbolt 5 isn’t a name that rolls off the tongue, but awkward naming aside, this may just be the best Thunderbolt 5 dock you can get now.

Honestly, this feature alone makes the Maxidok a standout, and the dock is now available for $389 (by using code UL85590F). You can buy it on Amazon as well, and while the listing shows $499, it goes down to $389 once you get to the checkout page.
Built-in SSD storage isn’t unique to this product; Satechi’s CubeDock also includes Thunderbolt 5 connectivity with M.2 storage, and I’ll be testing that next. Where the Maxidok stands out is the sheer number of ports; this allows the dock to be much more extensible.

The Maxidok has a Thunderbolt 5 upstream port alongside two Thunderbolt 5 downstream ports with 120Gbps bandwidth, and you get a DisplayPort 2.1 port that goes up to 8K at 60Hz, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, 3.5mm audio, three USB-A connectors with 10Gbps bandwidth, and three USB-C ports with the same 10Gbps bandwidth along with another 3.5mm audio out and an SD card reader.
Basically, the Maxidok has everything you need to connect an assortment of accessories and monitors, and the inclusion of an M.2 slot is the added bonus that lets you easily extend the storage of whatever client device you connect to the dock. On that note, the dock has the ability to drive dual 6K monitors at 60Hz.

It also delivers 240W of power, and this has proven to be particularly handy in my testing. The dock is able to charge connected notebooks at up to 140W over the USB PD 3.1 protocol, and you get 60W of power out of two front-facing USB-C connectors, making it ideal to charge phones and other accessories.
The design of the Maxidok is elegant, and the grey finish with golden-brown accents at the rear make it stand out against other docks in this segment. If anything, the dock looks so much like a mini-PC that you can easily stack it on the Mac mini without any issues. Active cooling is essential on a device with such high power and bandwidth, and the built-in fan does a good job ensuring the dock doesn’t overheat.

Ultimately, the dock is better than the Anker Prime TB5 thanks to the additional ports and M.2 storage, and it doesn’t cost as much — if you snag it at launch price of $389. UGREEN did all the right things with the dock, and if you need a powerful Thunderbolt 5 dock that lets you connect all your devices, the Revodok Maxidok 17-in-1 is the ideal choice right now.
