Samsung has been teasing its arrival in the fledgling smart glasses scene since the launch of Galaxy XR last fall, reportedly developing a pair without a display alongside one with a built-in screen. Now, we’re getting our first look at the display-less variant planned for launch later this year, and in comparison to some of its competition, this pair is looking pretty slick.
The folks at Android Headlines leaked seemingly-official marketing images of Samsung’s upcoming “Galaxy Glasses,” and aside from the dual camera lenses and the larger temples typical of this form factor, they basically look like any run-of-the-mill frames. Even then, the temples seen here are fairly thin compared to its rivals; really, only the lenses and Samsung branding tell you what these are at first glance.. Like most of the smart glasses options you have on the market today, these are indeed display-less, though despite this, they still run on Android XR like Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset. That means the bulk of your control options will likely come from Gemini-enabled voice commands, utilizing the front-facing camera lenses to add context from the outside world.
Android Headlines also published some “early” specs, and while these remain unconfirmed, they sound roughly in line with what you’d expect from this type of form factor. Galaxy Glasses are likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 — no real surprise there, unless Samsung pivots to some Exynos-branded solution we don’t know about — alongside a 12MP Sony sensor and a 155mAh battery. That’s in line with Meta’s display-less offerings, and suggests the recent battery spec leak in March for Samsung’s smart glasses were, indeed, for the display-equipped offering rumored for 2027. Factor in some bone-conduction speakers and roughly 50 grams of weight, and it’s looking like Samsung nailed all of the basics out of the gate.
Speaking of, let’s explain that one. Recently, an early build of One UI 9 revealed three different smart glasses products in the works. One of them — “Jinju” — appears to be this device, with a second unspecified variant also listed with a near identical model number (SM-O200P and SM-O200J). A third model, “Haean,” seems to be Samsung’s next-gen pair planned for next year, complete with a micro-LED screen for viewing notifications, directions, and other contextual data without the need for audio.
It’s tricky to take any price rumors seriously these days, when even existing products on store shelves can jump up $500 or more over night, but this report does contain some context around this. Assuming no RAM-influenced hikes, this pair of Galaxy Glasses are reportedly set to be priced somewhere between $379 and $499. That’s a big window, and you’d have to imagine Samsung (and its partners at Google) would like to see that final price tag land on the lower end of the spectrum. “Haean,” meanwhile, will be priced at the higher end of the market, though considering we’re at least a year from launch, speculating on that product’s final cost seems like an exercise in futility more than anything else.
It seems likely that Galaxy Glasses will show up sometime in the next few months, potentially at Google I/O before a more in-depth reveal at this summer’s planned Galaxy Unpacked. Samsung’s no stranger to launching wearable products alongside its foldables, just as with the Galaxy Watch and Ring in years past. With how final these leaked images look, I can’t imagine we’ll have to wait too much longer for more detail.
