The Amazfit Cheetah 2 Pro is already receiving its first software update, version 3.8.0.5, weighing in at just under 20MB. It lands right as early buyers are getting their devices, bringing a mix of new training tools, navigation tweaks and system improvements.
The timing makes sense. Early firmware updates often shape how a device feels out of the box, and this one leans heavily into running features. That lines up with how Amazfit positions the Cheetah line, and it gives a clearer idea of what the watch is trying to be from day one.
A strong focus on structured training
The biggest additions sit around guided training. Hybrid Training is now part of the package, offering structured plans aimed at improving performance while managing injury risk and long term consistency.
Lactate threshold also makes an appearance, along with testing tools. That shifts the watch further into performance territory. This is a feature that debuted with Active 3 Premium, but has since rolled out to a bunch of other devices.
Official marathon plans are included as well, and there is support for third party platforms like TrainingPeaks. That opens the door to more serious training setups.
The addition of a Training Calendar ties this together. It shows upcoming workouts in a more organised way, which sounds simple but makes a big difference when you are following a schedule over several weeks.
Tools that go beyond basic tracking
A few smaller additions fill in the gaps around daily training. Equivalent Pace is now available, adjusting uphill efforts into a flat ground equivalent. It helps make sense of hilly runs without manually interpreting splits.
Race Time Prediction also joins the list. It estimates finishing times for different distances based on recent performance. These predictions are common across higher end sports watches, so it is good to see Zepp Health getting in on the fun.
Equipment Management is another addition that may not get much attention at first, but it can be useful over time. Tracking mileage on shoes and gear helps with rotation and replacement for runners.
Navigation and mapping improvements
The update also touches route planning and navigation. Off course alerts are said to be more sensitive, and turn notifications come through more quickly. That should make following routes feel a bit more reliable, particularly in urban environments or complex trails.
Map visuals get an upgrade as well, with richer terrain detail and improved contour accuracy. It is not a complete overhaul, but it points to incremental improvements that matter during actual use rather than on a spec sheet.
Other changes
Outside of sports features, the default screen on time is extended to 15 seconds. This reduces the need to constantly wake the display during workouts or general use.
Sleep tracking has been refined through algorithm changes.
Local music and podcast support is now available globally, removing regional limitations that were present before. That makes the feature more consistent regardless of where the watch is used.
There is also a mention of Launcher 2.0 improvements, aimed at making navigation smoother. Combined with general bug fixes and performance tweaks, the update should help the watch feel more stable overall.
