Another day, another firmware update for the Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro. Version 4.4.1.3, is now rolling out. It’s a small update at just over 15MB but includes several fixes that should clean up issues during workouts, especially rucking and strength training.
Workout tracking gets a clean-up
If you’ve been using the T-Rex 3 Pro for rucking, you might have noticed that distance sometimes showed up as zero. That’s now fixed. The update makes sure distance tracking works as expected during these heavy-pack hikes, which should make the data more reliable.
There’s also a fix for podcast playback when using Bluetooth headphones. In some cases, the audio track would act up or behave strangely when podcasts were played directly from the watch. That shouldn’t happen anymore. To remind, podcast support was just recently introduced.
Strength training templates also get a small fix. The watch now correctly highlights muscle groups on the pre-workout screen, so you’ll know what the session is targeting before you start.
Track Run mode and navigation tweaks
Track Run mode had a lag issue when selecting lanes. That’s been addressed. The interface should now feel more responsive when you’re setting up your track workouts.
There was also some odd behaviour when re-routing during a workout. If you strayed off-course or tried to re-plan your route mid-activity, things didn’t always go smoothly. This update improves how those changes are handled.
The “Return to Start” function during workouts also gets a fix. It had a tendency to act up when used in some scenarios. With this update, it should now work more consistently and bring you back to your starting point without any unexpected behaviour.
A maintenance release
This is very much a maintenance release. It focuses on reliability during workouts, cleaner audio playback, and a generally smoother interface. There are no new features added, but the improvements should make daily use just a bit better.
You’ll want to keep your watch charged and connected to Wi-Fi for the update. The install doesn’t take long and there’s nothing else you’ll need to do once it finishes. Just get back to training, now with fewer bugs in the way.
