The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the company’s third attempt at a foldable phone, building on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold from 2024 and the original Pixel Fold from 2023.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s headline feature was becoming the first folding phone with IP68 certification, meaning it can withstand submersion in fresh water and completely sealed from dust. In comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an IP48 rating that doesn’t offer protection from dust.
Like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the original Pixel Fold before it – and just like other foldables from other brands – the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the most expensive device in Google’s current smartphone lineup, with prices starting at AU$2,699. That’s a full AU$1,000 more than the base Google Pixel 10 Pro, which we named our most recommended Android phone.
For most people, however, a phone plan from one of our big three Aussie telcos will be a more accessible option as you can pay off the high asking price in monthly bills. If you’re considering this route, I’ve looked at all the best plans available in Australia (including any current promotions and discounts) to help find the best value options.

Spending up to AU$2,899 (for the 512GB version) in one go on a phone may not be viable for everyone, but for those who prefer to buy it outright, you will end up saving more in the long run, especially if you wait to pick up the Pixel 10 Pro Fold when discounted. If that’s the route you’re looking to explore, we recommend pairing your new phone with one of our best SIM-only plans to keep costs down. What’s new with the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold?
The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold was launched alongside the rest of the Pixel 10 family, positioned as the most premium handset of the lineup. What are the worthwhile features and how does it compare to the rest of the Pixel 10 series? Here’s a quick breakdown.
As already mentioned, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is Google’s third foldable 2-in-1 phone and tablet device, and the biggest upgrades were the Tensor G5 processor, Pixelsnap magnetic charging and IP68 certification (compared to the 9 Pro Fold’s IPX8 rating).
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is the South Korean company’s thinnest and lightest 2-in-1 foldable to date, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is slightly thicker than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (5.2mm vs 5.1mm unfolded, 10.8mm vs 10.5mm folded) and 1g heavier. This is partially due to the larger 5,015 mAh battery (vs the 9 Pro Fold’s 4,650 mAh)

Pixelsnap, which also features on the rest of the Pixel 10 lineup, is a built-in, magnetic Qi2 wireless charging technology that works similarly to Apple’s MagSafe tech. It allows magnetic wireless charging of up to 15W, and also opens the handset up to a wide range of magnetic accessories, like car mounts and desk chargers, to make the Pixel 10 Pro Fold a more versatile workhorse.
The camera array is mostly unchanged from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, retaining the 48MP main shooter, 10.8MP telephoto lens and 10.5MP ultrawide camera. What’s new, however, is the Camera Coach feature. This uses AI to suggest shot composition and shooting modes to help take better photos. For existing photos, the Edit with Ask Photos feature suggests tweaks to the lighting, sharpness and more for further refinement.
The Tensor G5 processor also provides a boost over the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, with Google claiming it has a 34% faster CPU over the latter’s G4 chip, as well as a 60% more powerful Tensor Processing Unit (TPU). This provides faster overall performance with a more efficient battery and speedier processing, especially with AI features.
Altogether, there are more upgrades with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold over its predecessor that can make the handset a multitasking machine, and frequent discounts across the Pixel range means you could come away with a premium foldable for a great price, too.
