Huawei has recently announced a new pair of its premium earbuds, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5. Those earbuds have been on display at MWC 2026, and are quite compelling, actually. One of our MWC 2026 awards was sent over to Huawei for the FreeBuds Pro 5. This series has been quite impressive since its inception, and the FreeBuds Pro 5 up the ante in several ways, so it was an easy choice.
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 offer Dual-Engine AI Noise Cancellation
These are rather small earbuds which come with a silicone tip to help with fit, comfort, and noise cancelling. There are touch panels on the outer part of the stem, which work like a charm. Huawei incorporated something called Dual-Engine AI Noise Cancellation here to help with noise cancellation. The earbuds are also Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified, and have plenty of audio tech for such a small package.
The earbuds are also IP57 rated for water and dust resistance, so that you don’t have to worry about them if you’re running in the rain or something. Spatial Audio is also on board, and much improved, it would seem. Huawei also squeezed in a Dual-Drive Acoustic System. There are Dual DSPs and Dual DACs here, and they work in “perfect sync,” says the company. There are dedicated bass and treble drivers.
These earbuds support 2.3 Mbps Lossless Wireless Transmission
An ultra-linear dual-magnet driver offers a powerful base as low as 10Hz. On the other hand, the ultra-thin micro planar diaphragm driver delivers treble as high as 48kHz. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 also supports 2.3 Mbps Lossless Wireless Transmission, supported by the L2HC 4.0 codec. In addition to powerful noise cancelling, an Awareness Mode is also here, and Conversation Awareness as well. An Adaptive Volume feature is also a part of the package, and more.
These earbuds, Huawei says, can keep going up to 9 hours of play time with ANC off, and up to 6 hours with ANC on. That’s actually rather solid battery life for such a small package. The case adds plenty more of battery life, as it doubles as a charger. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 sure do look impressive.
