Early life and background

Aagha Ali Abbas was born on 4 December 1985 in Lahore, Pakistan. Raised in a family with deep ties to the entertainment industry, he is the son of Agha Sikander and Rubina Sikander and comes from a wider clan that includes actors and musicians across multiple generations. He completed a bachelor’s degree in arts at Forman Christian College in Lahore.

Career

Aagha’s career in the public eye began in the mid-2000s. He made his earliest television acting appearance in the PTV drama Yaad Piya Ki Aaye (2005), and took on hosting duties for the ATV show Total Round Up in 2006. That hosting work earned him a Best Anchor Award at the ATV Awards that year.

Following those debuts, Aagha worked across acting, hosting, music and production. He appeared in a range of television series such as Satrangi (2008), Jinnah Ke Naam (2009), Mein Hari Piya (2013) — for which he received a Hum Awards nomination — Rukhsaar (2014), Khuda Dekh Raha Hai (2015), Be Inteha (2017), Dil-e-Gumshuda (2019), and Mujhe Khuda Pay Yaqeen Hai (2021). His performance as Amaar in Rukhsaar drew particular audience appreciation.

He branched into commercial work with a youth-focused campaign for the mobile brand Djuice in 2010, and has been involved in telefilms including Teray Pyar Mai (2020), Zoya Nay Haan Kardi (2021), Shadi Hai Impossible (2021), Bhagam Bhag (2022), and Love Life Ka Law (2022).

As a host Aagha fronted numerous television programs: Music Plus Plus on PTV, For Him on TVOne Pakistan, Cat Walk on ARY Digital, A-Tunes on ATV, Xtra Light on TVOne Pakistan, Band Gali on A-Plus, and Ruling Faces (seasons 1 and 2) on Style 360. He also wrote and directed Ruling Faces Season 2.

Music has been another strand of his work. His first solo album, Mera Pehla Rock Song, was released on Morning With Juggan in January 2013. He has released music videos over the years, including Mein Wohi Aashiq (2017), Main Haara (2019), Aaj Bhi (2020) and Tu Mila (2023). He sang the original soundtrack for Khuda Dekh Raha Hai and has performed in theatrical productions since his late teens.

In recent years Aagha expanded into web projects. In 2021 he acted in, directed and wrote the web film Raat for the Pakistani OTT platform UrduFlix, playing the role of Ali. He and his wife hosted The Couple Show on Aaj Entertainment for season 1 in 2021 and returned as hosts for season 2 in 2022.

In June 2023 Aagha announced that he received the Dubai Golden Visa and described Dubai as a second home. He continues to work across television, telefilms, music videos and digital films, with credits as an actor, writer and director.
