Early life and background

Aakash Mehta was born in 1993 and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He attended a Gujarati-medium school through fourth grade in a city where Marathi is commonly spoken. Music was an early passion; he took an online songwriting course through Berklee College of Music before solidifying his focus on comedy.

Career

Mehta’s public career blends stand-up, music, writing and gaming. He gravitated toward stand-up after performing at a college festival and attending open-mic nights around 2010–2011, experiences that convinced him to pursue live comedy. He favors improvisation over scripted sets and has described not writing down jokes in recent years, relying instead on spontaneous performance.

He launched a YouTube channel, KuchbhiMehta, where his earliest upload dates to August 31, 2015, and includes recorded comedy sets and vlog-style content. In 2018 he appeared in the documentary Ab Mujhe Funny Banna Hai, which explores the challenges comedians face when they are off-stage. That same year he began a podcast, Varta Lab, with Navin Noronha; the series, along with other podcasts he recorded such as AMF and a cricket-focused show, was posted on his channel. Mehta has also invited guests from his family to these conversations, including his mother, who has a background in business and public service.

Beyond stand-up sets, he has written and appeared in several YouTube sketch series, including titles such as Comedy Central, The Living Room, Random Chikibum, Them Boxer Shorts and The Comedy Factory.

Outside of traditional comedy gigs, Mehta is active as a gamer and live streamer.
