Early life and background

Aashish Chaudhary was born on 21 July 1978 in Guwahati, Assam. Raised in a middle-class household, he grew up with strong ties to his family and hometown. His parents are Indur Chowdhry and Sangeeta Chowdhry, and he had a sister, Monica Chowdhry, who later passed away. His formative years in Guwahati preceded a move into modelling and acting.

Career

Chaudhary began his career as a model, appearing in television advertisements and music videos before transitioning to acting. His on-screen debut came in 1995 with the TV series Apne Jaise Types, where he played the character Rohan. That year he also made his film debut in Dil Ka Doctor. Over time he took roles in several television serials, including Khiladi, Hum Pardesi Ho Gaye, Ek Mutthi Aasmaan and Dev.

On the big screen, Chaudhary has appeared in a variety of Bollywood films, with credits that include Chalo America, Qayamat: City Under Threat, Speed and Dhamaal. He broadened his public profile further by competing in reality television. In 2015 he entered the stunt-based game show Khatron Ke Khiladi: Darr Ka Blockbuster Returns and won the season. He also appeared on the dance reality series Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8. In 2019 he played Mrutunjya Roy on Sony TV’s Beyhadh 2.

Chaudhary lost his sister Monica and his brother-in-law Ajit in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, a personal tragedy that is part of his family story.

Chaudhary lists Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit among his favourite actors, cites Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Titanic as favourite films, and enjoys continental cuisine. He is also known to be friends with cricketer Yuvraj Singh.
