Early life and background

Aatif Bin Altaf was born in 2005 in Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. He grew up in the same neighbourhood and attended the International Islamic School Peerbagh in Srinagar. As of 2023 he was completing his higher secondary studies in class 12.

From a young age he was drawn to performance and took part in school theatre productions. Growing up in Kashmir, he has said there were limited opportunities locally for aspiring actors, so much of his early practice came from working on his craft alone at home.

Career

While still in high school Aatif began working as a model. He appeared in fashion shows and took part in shoots, including a noted collaboration in 2018 with Asim Riaz in Chandigarh. His modelling work also led to assignments for commercial brands, with appearances in advertising for companies such as Puma and Myntra.

Aatif transitioned to work in films and made his feature debut in the 2024 Hindi biographical film Chandu Champion. In that project he appears as a soldier and shared the screen with Kartik Aaryan in the film that depicts the life of India’s Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar. During production he worked with director Kabir Khan.
