Abhijay Negi (Encore ABJ) Biography

Abhijay Negi, known by his stage name Encore ABJ, is a Delhi-born rapper and one half of the hip-hop duo Seedhe Maut. Active since the mid-2010s, he has co

Early life and background

Abhijay Negi was born on 15 July 1995 and grew up in Delhi, India. He attended St. Mary's Senior Secondary School in Delhi and later studied at Delhi Technical Campus in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. From a young age he was drawn to rap and hip-hop, and that interest shaped his creative ambitions through his school and college years.

Physical details often cited in profiles put him at about 172 cm (1.72 m), or roughly 5'8". He has black hair and black eyes. His zodiac sign is Cancer.

Career

Negi launched his YouTube channel in October 2014 and began sharing original tracks and collaborations. Early uploads include songs from 2015 such as Painting A Picture: Bhed Ya Bhediya and Dilli Darshan. He continued to release material through the late 2010s and into the 2020s, including singles like HI RAM (2018) and Ghar Pe Raho (2020), the latter a track encouraging people to stay home during the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2016, during an underground rap battle in Delhi, Negi met Siddhant Sharma (known as Calm). The two formed the hip-hop duo Seedhe Maut that same year. Seedhe Maut's work often addresses social themes—Indian society, politics, romance, and the education system figure prominently in their songs.

Seedhe Maut's first mixtape, 2 Ka Pahada, arrived in 2016 and featured seven tracks including Seedhe Maut Anthem, Royalty, Classsikh Maut, and Hanging On. In 2018 the pair signed with Azadi Records and released a string of singles, among them Kranti (2018), 101 (2019), Dum Pishaach (2020), and Do Guna (2020).

Also in 2018 Seedhe Maut released their debut album Bayaan, produced by Sez on the Beat. Bayaan spans twelve tracks and includes cuts such as Shaktimaan, Meri Baggi, Pankh, and Kyn. Negi has cited Kyu and Pankh as personal favorites from that record. Subsequent releases with his duo include the album न (2021), a ten-track project in which each song title begins with the letter N, and Nayaab (2022), a 17-track collaboration with Sez on the Beat that the duo describe as chronicling the success that followed Bayaan.

Outside of Seedhe Maut's core releases, Negi collaborated on the 2017 track Drifting with Frappe Ash and Yungsta. He began building his profile across live and broadcast formats as well: in 2022 Seedhe Maut appeared as guests on MTV India's Hustle 2.o and hosted the finale of Red Bull Spotlight on MX Player. In 2023 the duo performed live alongside MC Stan and Ikka on the Bigg Boss 16 stage.

Public profile

Seedhe Maut's name reflects an attitude of total commitment—no half measures—which Negi has described as central to the duo's approach and the spirit of their music. Musically, he cites influences such as Eminem and Jay-Z, naming them as inspirations for his interest in lyrical hip-hop. He also draws on personal interests in his work, with sports references shaped by his active participation in college athletics and occasional nods to anime characters he enjoys.

Personal life

Negi is from Delhi and holds Indian nationality. Profiles list him as unmarried. He has a sister named Apoorva Negi. Public summaries note Adidas as a preferred shoe brand and Munshi Premchand as a favored author.

Latest updates

Recent years have seen Seedhe Maut expand beyond recorded releases into televised appearances and high-profile live performances. Their collaborative album Nayaab (2022) and appearances in 2022 and 2023 on shows and stages reflect a trajectory from underground battler to a duo active across digital releases, streaming platforms, and televised events.
