Early life and backgroundAbhimanyu Easwaran was born on 6 September 1995 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. His father, Ranganathan Parameshwaran Easwaran, is a chartered accountant who established a cricket academy in Dehradun. Easwaran’s family includes a sister, Pallavi Easwaran Kharbanda. Though born in Uttarakhand to a Tamilian father and a Punjabi mother, he moved to Kolkata at around ten years old to pursue cricket alongside his coach.

Career
Easwaran’s early representative cricket included appearances for Bengal Under-19s and India under-23s. He made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bengal on 14 December 2013 against Uttar Pradesh. Over subsequent seasons he established himself as an opening batter and an anchor for his state side.
The 2018–19 domestic season proved pivotal. Easwaran was the leading run-scorer for Bengal in that Ranji Trophy campaign, accumulating 861 runs in six matches at a high average. During that season he produced several large scores, including a first-class double century (201) against Punjab, 186 against Hyderabad and an unbeaten 183 while chasing Delhi’s target.
His performances at domestic level led to selection for various India A and representative teams. He was named in India A and India Emerging Players squads, and appeared for teams including Indian Board Presidents XI, Prime Bank Cricket Club and East Bengal Club. In May 2019 he played an unofficial Test for India A against Sri Lanka A at Belagavi where he scored 233 and was named player of the match.
Easwaran’s form in 2019 also saw him selected for India Red in the Duleep Trophy; he scored 153 in the final against India Green, a display that brought him to the attention of national selectors. He has represented India A in Deodhar Trophy matches and featured in the Dhaka Premier League for Prime Bank, where he was among the top performers for his team.
In the shorter formats, Easwaran made his T20 debut for Bengal against Tripura on 31 January 2017. Across different competitions he has continued to operate primarily as an opening batter noted for his cover drive and keeping the innings anchored.
National squad involvement
Easwaran has been included as a standby reserve for India’s Test squad on multiple occasions. He was among five standby players for India’s 2021 home series against England and later one of four standby players named for India’s squad for the World Test Championship final and the England tour.
