Abhishek Singh Thakur was born on 3 July 1999 in Khurja, Uttar Pradesh. He grew up in that town and attended Aligarh College of Engineering and Technology, where he completed his graduation. As a child he enjoyed team sports and took up kabaddi at age 14 after a school coach encouraged him to join the school team. He later trained at the GS Kabaddi Academy in Khurja and began representing his school in inter‑school competitions.

Abhishek emerged from domestic competitions to represent Uttar Pradesh at national championships.
