Early life and background

Adhik Ravichandran was born on 17 September 1989 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Raised in a family with film connections—his father, Ravi Kandhasamy, worked for many years as an assistant director—Adhik originally planned to study visual communication but chose to pursue engineering to reassure his mother. He holds a B.Tech degree and grew up in Chennai, which remains the centre of his personal and professional life.

Career

Adhik began his career in film by working as an assistant director under industry professionals, gaining on-set experience before stepping into his own projects. He made his debut as a writer-director with the Tamil film Trisha Illana Nayantara in 2015, which became a commercial success and was later dubbed into Telugu.

Following that break, he wrote and directed the 2017 action comedy Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan (often referred to as AAA). The film attracted predominantly negative reviews and underperformed at the box office. He continued to write and direct, with Bagheera releasing on 3 March 2023. That film did not fare well commercially or critically.

Adhik experienced a major commercial turnaround later in 2023 when he directed Mark Antony, a science-fiction action comedy that opened on 14 September 2023 and went on to become a box-office hit, reportedly crossing the Rs. 100 crore mark in revenue. He also contributed vocals to the Mark Antony soundtrack in 2023, performing the song "I Love You Di," written by GV Prakash.

Alongside his work behind the camera, Adhik has acted in Tamil films. He made his acting debut in 2019 with the psychological mystery K-13, portraying the character Vijay. That same year he appeared as Vishwa in Nerkonda Paarvai, a Tamil remake of the Hindi film Pink. He also appeared in the 2022 psychological action thriller Cobra.
