Aditi Ashok Biography

Aditi Ashok is an Indian professional golfer from Bangalore who rose quickly through junior and amateur ranks to claim multiple Ladies European Tour titles

Early life and background

Aditi Ashok was born on 29 March 1998 in Bangalore, Karnataka. Raised in a family connected to golf—her father, Ashok Gudlamani, is a golfer who works in real estate—she began spending time at the Karnataka Golf Association as a child and took up formal training there. She attended The Frank Anthony Public School in Bangalore and later studied at Jain (Deemed-to-be University) in Bengaluru.

Career

Ashok developed through India’s junior and amateur circuits, collecting national-level titles across 2011–2015 and competing in regional events such as the Asia Pacific Junior Championship. She won notable amateur tournaments including the Ladies’ British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship and the St Rule Trophy in 2015. After that breakthrough year she turned professional on 1 January 2016.

Shortly after turning pro, Ashok established herself on the Ladies European Tour. In 2016 she won the Hero Women’s Indian Open and the Qatar Ladies Open, earned Rookie of the Year honours on the LET, and finished second on the LET Order of Merit. She also topped the LET putting average that season. In November 2017 she added the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open to her professional victories.

Ashok has balanced appearances across global events and multi-sport competitions. She represented India at the 2016 Rio Olympics as one of the youngest members of the Indian contingent and later competed at the Tokyo Olympics. She has also played at the Asian Games and the Youth Olympic and Asian Youth Games, making her one of the few Indian golfers to have appeared across those youth and senior multi-sport platforms.

Her professional résumé grew through the following years with a victory at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open in February 2023 and other strong finishes on the LPGA and LET. A fifth-place tie at the LPGA Founders Cup in May 2023 helped Ashok become the first Indian woman to break into the top 50 of the world rankings.

Records and achievements

Ashok’s career features several milestones for Indian golf: she was the youngest winner of LET Q-School in December 2015, the first Indian to win three LET events, and the first Indian to be named LET Rookie of the Year. She has played a high number of major championships for an Indian professional and finished her amateur career ranked among India’s highest on the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Coaching, equipment and endorsements

Her preparation has included time at IMG Academy on scholarship and work with coaches and trainers across fitness and technical disciplines. She competes right-handed and has used Puma apparel and Callaway clubs. She has appeared in print campaigns for brands such as Puma, Hero MotoCorp, and GolfLan.

Public profile

Ashok maintains a public presence and has shared moments from her career on social media. She is known to enjoy reading, listening to music, and collecting lapel pins. She is also a dog lover and has a pet named Bailey.

Latest updates

In 2023 Ashok won a silver medal in golf at the Hangzhou Asian Games (the 2022 edition held in 2023) and claimed the Magical Kenya Ladies Open on the LET. Her top-five finish at the 2023 LPGA Founders Cup moved her into the top 50 of the world rankings, a first for an Indian female golfer.

Personal

Ashok is unmarried. Her mother, Maheshwari (Mash Ashok), has worked in human resources and radio and has served as her caddie at the Tokyo Olympics, while her father caddied for her at Rio. She lists the Old Course at St. Andrews as a favourite course and cites Babe Didrikson Zaharias among the athletes she admires.
