Aditya Kumar was born on 7 December 1992 in Bihar Sharif and grew up in the Pabhera village near Patna. He completed his schooling at DAV Public School in Kumhrar, Patna, and earlier attended De Nobili School, FRI in Dhanbad. After finishing school he moved to Mumbai to pursue acting while also enrolling at the National Law College in Bandra. He trained with The Free Birds Collective, an acting school founded by Barry John.

Career

Kumar made his screen debut in the Anurag Kashyap–linked project that led to his casting in Gangs of Wasseypur 2 (2012) where he played the character nicknamed Perpendicular. For that role he learned a distinctive stage skill—rolling a blade in his mouth—a technique he worked on for several months and that drew notable attention.

In addition to Gangs of Wasseypur 2, he appeared in short films including Sujata (2011) and Agony of a Purple Clot (2013). He later worked on the web series Bose: Dead/Alive (2017), playing a character credited as Nakli Bose. In 2018 he joined the cast of the Dharma Productions-backed film Dhadak, portraying Devi Lal (credited as Devilal Singh), a part he described as a meaningful learning experience under director Shashank Khaitan.
