Early life and background

Aditya Seal was born on 22 March 1988 in Mumbai, India, where he was raised. He attended Chatrabhuj Narseee Memorial School in Vile Parle West and Hiranandani Foundation School in Thane. After finishing school he completed a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media. Growing up he wanted to be a cricketer but a knee injury ended that pursuit and helped steer him toward a career in the entertainment industry. Seal comes from a family with ties to film production: his father, Ravi Seal, worked as an actor and producer, and his mother is Manju Seal.

Career

Seal made his film debut as a teenager in the 2002 romantic drama Ek Chhotisi Love Story. The role drew strong attention at the time and was followed by a period in which he found it difficult to secure further work. He returned to the screen in a small role in We R Friends (2006) and later took the lead in Purani Jeans (2014). Though Purani Jeans did not succeed commercially, his performance received recognition.

In 2016 Seal appeared in Tum Bin 2, a romantic drama in which he played the character Shekhar Malhotra. His career gained clearer momentum in 2019 when he was cast as Manav Randhawa in Student of the Year 2, a teen romantic comedy-drama directed by Punit Malhotra.
