Early life and background
Adivi Sesh was born on 17 December 1985 in Hyderabad and grew up between India and the United States. He attended Berkeley High School in California and went on to study a four-year course in film direction at San Francisco State University. His family includes his father Sunshi Chandra Adivi, his mother Bhavani Adivi, and a younger sister, Shirley Adivi, who is a doctor. His cousin is the director Sai Kiran Adivi.

Career
Sesh began his film career with an acting debut in the Telugu film Sontham (2002). He has worked across multiple roles in cinema — acting, writing, directing and modelling. His Tamil project Karma (2010) marked his work as actor, director and writer. The idea for Karma grew out of a serious accident he experienced in San Francisco; the film was notable for being shot in the US with an American technical crew and a music score created by three American composers.

Over the years he has acted in a range of Telugu films, including Panjaa (2011), Kiss (2013), Inji Iduppazhagi (2015), Goodachari (2018) and the pan-Indian Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), in which he played the role of Bhadrudu/Bhadra. He reached a wider Hindi-speaking audience with Major (2021), portraying Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.

Alongside acting, Sesh has written screenplays for several films. His writing credits include Kiss (2013), Kshanam (2016) and Major (2021). His work as a writer and filmmaker has been recognized with industry awards: he won the Nandi Award for Best Screenplay for Kshanam, the IIFA Utsavam Best Screenplay (Telugu) for the same film, the Zee Cine Award for Best Screenplay for Goodachari, and the Sakshi Excellence Award for Best Film Critics Choice for Goodachari. Most recently, he received the SIIMA Critics Award for Best Actor (Telugu) for Major in September 2023.
