Afsana Khan was born on 13 June 1994 in village Badal, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab. Raised in a family with a musical background, she grew up listening to singers in her household; both her grandfather and her father were involved in music. Her father, Sheera Khan, died when she was young. Afsana completed her schooling at Government Senior Secondary School in Badal and is a graduate.

Career

Afsana began performing locally to help support her family and first came to wider attention when she took part in Voice of Punjab Season 3 in 2012, where she reached the top five. She later appeared as a contestant on the television singing show Rising Star. Despite not having received formal musical training, she learned on the job and prepared audition material under pressure, including a moment when she worked up a Bollywood song at the Rising Star audition venue to secure selection.

Following her television appearances, Afsana has performed at numerous live shows across Punjab. She is best known for the Punjabi song "Jatta Sareaam Ve Tu Dhakka Kardae" and has released other Punjabi tracks including "Tootera," "Mahi Mileya," "Jaani Ve Jaani," "Chandigarh Shehar," and "Juti Jharrke."
