Aftab Shivdasani was born on 25 June 1978 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Raised in the city he calls home, he completed his schooling at St. Xavier's High School, Mumbai, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree from H.R. College of Commerce and Economics. He grew up in a family headed by his parents, Prem and Putli Shivdasani, and has an elder sister named Afsana.

From a very young age Shivdasani was involved in the entertainment world. He appeared as a child artist in films such as Mr. India and Chaalbaaz and even did a Farex baby commercial when he was around two years old. Those early experiences paved the way for a full-time career in films.
