According to police statements, Anish was then confined at a house within the Byadarahalli Police Station limits, assaulted by a group of persons and robbed of cash and gold ornaments. The group is reported to have taken him subsequently to Mandaragiri Hill in Tumakuru district, where he was assaulted again. Anish filed a complaint from a private hospital in Wilson Garden on 11 February 2026.
