Early life and background

Ajay Hooda was born on 6 October 1981 in Khilwadi, Rohtak, Haryana. He grew up in a family with agricultural roots and later completed graduation at Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut. Hooda also holds a doctorate degree from an institution listed as International Internship University. He served in the Indian Army from 2002 until his retirement in 2017, a period during which he won a silver medal in the World Army Boxing Championship.

Career

Hooda began exploring songwriting and performing while still in the army, composing raginis and other material that his colleagues encouraged him to pursue. After leaving military service he focused on music full time. He released early albums in 2011 and 2012 that did not find commercial success, but achieved wider recognition with the Haryanvi song Patola in 2014.

His first stage performance came in 2015, when he shared a platform with Sapna Choudhary to perform the song Solid Body. Over the following years he recorded a string of regional hits, including Fan Main Hukka Ka (2018), 52 Gaj Ka Daman (2020), Pyar Permanent (2022), 2 Kilo Perfume (2022), and Taagdi (2022). In 2022 he made his film debut with Parahuna 2. That same year he and collaborator Sandeep Surila released Kamar Teri Left Right Hale under the album Ajay Hooda Blockbuster Songs; the track received tens of millions of views and millions of likes online.

Hooda has also been recognized with awards for his lyrical work, receiving an International Lyricist Award in 2022. He cites Manjaeet Panchal as a mentor in his musical development and lists artists such as Guru Randhawa among his musical influences.
