Early life and background
Akanksha Puri was born on 26 July 1988 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She grew up in a middle-class family and completed her early education in a village school near Bhopal before attending Carmel Convent School in Bhopal. Active and energetic as a child, she took part in sports such as tennis and basketball and has often recalled playful memories of climbing trees and riding a horse cart to school.

After finishing college, Puri worked as an international cabin crew member for Kingfisher Airlines while also pursuing modelling assignments. She began modelling around 2010, appearing in print shoots and television commercials for a range of brands, and later endorsed products on her social media accounts.

Career
Puri transitioned from modelling to films after a Tamil production house noticed her in a commercial. Her on-screen debut came in 2013 with the Tamil film Alex Pandian, in which she played Divya. She continued to build a regional film career with roles in the Tamil film Tihar (2014), the Malayalam film Praise the Lord (2014) as Annie, and the Kannada film Lodde (2015) in which she portrayed a character named Akanksha.

In 2015 she made her Hindi film debut as Nandita Menon in Calendar Girls, a role that remains closely associated with her name. That year she also appeared in the Malayalam film Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander as Saira. She later featured in the Tamil film Action (2019) as Kaira.

Puri has also worked in television and digital series. She made a television appearance on CID in 2015 and went on to play Goddess Parvati in the mythological series Vighnaharta Ganesha from 2017 until her exit in 2020. More recently, she appeared in the 2023 Hindi web series Inspector Avinash as Meetu Punjaban.

Reality television and music videos
Reality television has been a recurring part of Puri’s public life. She appeared as a guest on Bigg Boss in 2013 and again in 2015. In 2022 she entered Swayamvar – Mika Di Vohti as a wildcard contestant. In 2023 she took part in season 2 of Bigg Boss OTT.
