Early life and background

Akanksha Sharma was born on 19 June 1993 and grew up in India. She completed a Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, studying from 2011 to 2014. Her parents include her father, Yogesh Kumar Sharma, who worked as an assistant registrar at the Supreme Court of India, and her mother, whose name is not publicly listed. She has a sister, Swati Sharma, who works as an anchor.

Career

Akanksha began exploring media work while still a student. While pursuing her degree she auditioned for Radio Mirchi’s RJ Hunt in 2013, a contest that attracted thousands of applicants; she emerged as the winner and went on to host a Sunday morning show. During her time at Radio Mirchi she worked alongside established radio personalities and spent about a year at the station before leaving to complete her studies.

Her early radio work included performing radio commercials and voice variations for brands, which helped her develop skills in mimicry and character voices. That training proved useful when she transitioned to freelance voice-over work.

In 2015 Akanksha came to wider attention when a media company seeking a Hindi voice for the popular Japanese cartoon Shin-chan selected her. Though the project experienced interruptions, she ultimately became the fourth artist to provide the Hindi voice of the character Shin-chan Nohara. Her dubbing repertoire also includes voices for Shin-chan’s friend Bo-chan, Nobita from Doraemon, and Dorami, Doraemon’s sister. Beyond animated series, she has provided Hindi dubbing for programs on the Discovery Channel and for WWE broadcasts.

Alongside voice work, Akanksha performs as an emcee at private and public events including birthdays, weddings, award shows and comedy nights. She has also worked in live comedy settings; in 2019 she opened for comedian Rajat Chauhan during his stand-up special titled "Bachpan" at a comedy venue in Mumbai.

Public profile

Akanksha expanded her presence online by launching a YouTube channel in 2016. Her channel grew rapidly; by 2020 she had amassed over half a million subscribers. One of her popular uploads, a cartoon voice mimicry challenge, surpassed millions of views, helping to broaden her audience beyond traditional dubbing and radio work.

Her professional achievements include winning Radio Mirchi’s RJ Hunt in 2013, taking first place at The Open Mic Comedy event in Chandigarh in 2017, and receiving the Dr Kalam Smriti Excellence Award in 2019 for notable achievement in media.

Personal life

Akanksha married comedian Rajat Chauhan on 25 November 2020. She has described herself as shy during her school years and has spoken about overcoming stage fright to perform onstage and in front of microphones. Early in her career her parents were reportedly hesitant about her choice of profession, but later came to view voice-over work as a viable career path.

She is an animal lover and regularly shares photographs with animals on social media. Her physical characteristics listed in public profiles include a height of approximately 161 cm (5'3"), black hair and black eyes.
