Early life and background

Akash Paramjit Vasisht was born on 17 December 1994 in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, and grew up in Amritsar, Punjab. He attended DAV College in Amritsar. Standing about 1.78 m (5'10"), he has black hair and black eyes. His parents include his father, Paramjit Sharma; his mother's name is not publicly listed. He has a sister named Aanchal Sharma. Akash is married to Madhvi Khosla.

Career

Vasisht is a domestic cricketer who represents Himachal Pradesh. A slow left-arm orthodox bowler and a left-handed batsman, he progressed through the state age-group side, turning out for Himachal Pradesh under-19 and under-22 teams before breaking into senior domestic cricket.

He made his first-class debut for Himachal Pradesh on 28 December 2014 against Assam in the Ranji Trophy. In February 2020 he recorded his maiden first-class century, scoring 141 against Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy. Vasisht's List A debut came on 21 February 2021, when he played for Himachal Pradesh against Maharashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He also made his Twenty20 debut for Himachal Pradesh on 18 November 2019 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Vasisht contributed to a notable period for Himachal Pradesh cricket: he was part of the squad that won the Lakshya Champions Trophy in February 2018, and he was in the Himachal Pradesh team that captured the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2021–22 — the state's first title in that competition.

His performances in the 2022–23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy were a highlight. He finished as Himachal Pradesh's leading run-scorer in that tournament, aggregating 216 runs at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 163.63. Those displays helped raise his profile ahead of the Indian Premier League auction.

In 2023, Vasisht was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League at a base price of 20 lakh rupees.
