Akhil Marar was born on 7 September 1988 in Kottarakkara in the Kollam district of Kerala. Raised in Kollam, he completed schooling at CF High School, Kottiyam and S.V.M.M.H.S.S. Vendar before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Fatima Mata College, Kollam. He is Indian by nationality and follows Hinduism.

Before turning to film, Akhil worked in the private sector, taking roles as a sales representative and later as an area manager with medical companies. After a personal setback, he left that line of work and tried a variety of ventures, including opening a juice kiosk called Alchemist in Kottathala and practicing small-scale agriculture around his home.
