Early life and background

Alexa Bliss was born Alexis Lexi Kaufman on August 9, 1991, in Columbus, Ohio. Raised by parents Bob and Angela, she grew up in a household where both parents were teenagers at the time of her birth. Bliss attended Providence High School in North Carolina and later studied at Columbus Community College and the University of Akron in Ohio, where she earned a degree in medical dietetics.

From a young age Bliss was active in sports. She participated in activities such as track, gymnastics, softball, swimming and kickboxing, and achieved Division I status in cheerleading while at the University of Akron. At 17 she appeared on the cover of American Cheerleader magazine.

Bliss has spoken publicly about serious health struggles during her teens. At age 15 she was diagnosed with anorexia and faced a life-threatening episode; she later relapsed while in college and lost a significant amount of weight in a short period. To recover and rebuild her strength she turned to bodybuilding and went on to win several IFBB competitions.

Career

Alexa Bliss made her WWE debut in NXT on May 8, 2014, before being called up to the main roster on the July 26, 2016 SmackDown episode. Standing billed at 5 feet 1 inch (1.55 m) and competing around 101 pounds (46 kg), she gained recognition for a mix of agility, character work and finishing moves such as the Twisted Bliss and the snap DDT.

Throughout her WWE career she has been booked as a prominent singles competitor and is a multi-time women's champion.
