Early life and background

Alhena Tanzil, known professionally as Alhena ADS, grew up in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. She was born on 20 August and her family home and upbringing are rooted in Ooty. Her mother, Shyji Ashref, runs the ADS Crew Ooty dance academy and is a dancer herself; her father is Ashref Ash, an entrepreneur. Alhena follows Islam and attended Unique Public School in Ooty.

From a very young age she showed a clear interest in dance. She began training and performing when she was six years old, learning and rehearsing within the family-run ADS Crew Ooty program. The academy has been central to her early development and remains the base for her activities, including teaching workshops for children in her age group.

Career

Alhena’s public dance career has included appearances on several competitive television shows and participation in national and international events with ADS Crew Ooty. In 2016 she and partner Shajid reached the finals of Jodi No. 1 (season 9) on Star Vijay. The following year she represented ADs Kids on Vijay TV’s Kings of Dance and was part of the winning team.

Her competitive résumé continued to grow in 2019 when she and her team won a bronze medal at the Indian Hip Hop Championship; the group then went on to represent India at the World Hip‑hop International Championship. In 2021 Alhena and her elder sister Aishu ADS took part in Dance VS Dance (season 2) on Colors Tamil and progressed to the semi‑finals.

Alhena has also won talent competitions outside of televised shows. In 2022 she received the India Star Icon Kids Achievers Award, and that same year she won a talent hunt competition. In addition to performing, she conducts dance workshops at ADS Crew Ooty for children in her cohort, sharing the skills she developed through years of stage experience.

Public profile

Alhena maintains an online presence to showcase her dance work. On 16 March 2023 she launched a YouTube channel under the name Alhena ADS where she uploads dance videos. Her choreography influences include established figures such as Prabhu Deva, and her dance master Amir ADS is described as a close mentor and family‑like figure to her household.
