Altamash Faridi was born on 17 August 1989 in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a musical family, his father is Ustad Mehtab Faridi. He has two brothers, Shadab Faridi and Asif Faridi, both of whom are musicians. Altamash grew up in Saharanpur and developed interests outside music that include travelling and dancing.

Career

Altamash began his professional music journey with early appearances on televised singing competitions. In 2009 he won the Close-Up Performer contest on Doordarshan, an achievement that led to a cash prize and a singing contract. The following year he took part in Music Ka Maha Muqabla on StarPlus as a member of Shaan’s team “Striker” and also competed in Zee’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar as part of the Sajid–Wajid team.

His playback career in Bollywood dates back to at least 2010, when he sang the title song for the film No Problem. Over the next decade he contributed vocals to a series of mainstream Hindi films. Notable film credits include songs for Gunday (2014), Bajirao Mastani (2015), Andhadhun (2018), Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), and Dream Girl (2022), where he is associated with the song “Ik Mulaqaat.” Other film work includes tracks in What the Fish (2013), Mickey Virus (2013), Jai Ho (2014), Agent Vinod (2015), Alone (2015), Do Lafzon Ki Kahani (2016), and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023).

Alongside film playback, Altamash has released singles and collaborations. In 2020 he released the song “Baras Baras” with B Prank, and in 2021 he issued “Subhan Allah,” which featured Rashami Desai and Monis Khan.
