Alyssa Healy was born on 24 March 1990 on the Gold Coast, Australia. Cricket ran in her family: her father, Greg Healy, played for Queensland, and her uncle Ian Healy represented Australia as a Test wicketkeeper. Healy attended Barker College in Sydney, where she began to focus on sport and ultimately chose cricket as her school sport. As a youngster she broke new ground in New South Wales by becoming the first girl from the state to play in a boys’ cricket team at a private school there.
