Early life and background
Alyy Khan was born on 6 December 1968 in Karachi, Pakistan. His parents separated when he was a child; he moved to the United Kingdom with his mother and sister at around age seven, and the family later relocated to Mumbai when he was about ten. Khan attended Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, Mumbai, and later studied in the UK at Pimlico Academy, where he earned a diploma in film and television production. He also studied drama under Hima Devi at Hima Kala Kendra, an instructor affiliated with Trinity College, London.

Career
Khan’s screen career has included work in films and television across several countries. His first film role listed is in the 2001 movie Deham, where he played Jeetu. He has appeared in Indian cinema, notably in roles such as Akash Rathore in Sssshhh… (2003), Satish Chaudhary in Luck by Chance (2009), and J. K. Diwan in Don 2 (2011). His international credits include the British TV film Sharpe’s Challenge (2006) as Mohan Singh and the American feature A Mighty Heart (2007), in which he portrayed Sheikh Omar.

His performance as Neal Kumar in the feature The Valley brought festival recognition, earning him Best Actor nominations at the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema in Berlin and at the Northeast Film Festival in the United States in 2017, and a nomination at the same festival’s Milan edition. For his role as Bashir in Mogul Mowgli (2020) he received a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the British Independent Film Awards in 2021.
