Early life and backgroundAman Arora was born on 12 August 1974 in Sunam, Sangrur district, Punjab. He grew up in a politically active household: his father, Bhagwan Das Arora, served as a Congress MLA for Sunam in the 1990s and was involved in local development projects. Aman attended General Gurnam Singh Public School in Sangrur and later studied at Panjab University, Chandigarh, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.
His family has long been engaged in regional politics. His mother, Parmeshwari Devi, has also been politically active, and several siblings have been involved in public life. Aman is married to Shabina Arora and the couple have a son, Bhuveer Arora.
Career
Aman Arora began his electoral career with the Indian National Congress. He contested the Sunam assembly seat for Congress in 2007 and again in 2012 but did not win on those occasions. In January 2016 he changed his political affiliation and joined the Aam Aadmi Party, citing an alignment with the party's approach to public welfare.
After joining AAP, Arora won the Sunam assembly seat in the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. He was given organizational responsibility in the state unit, serving as co-convener of AAP's Punjab unit when Bhagwant Mann became state convener. Arora later held the role of co-president of the Punjab state unit.
He was re-elected as MLA from Sunam in the 2022 elections, winning by a substantial margin.
