Early life and background

Amanda Dudamel Newman was born on 19 October 1999 in Mérida, Venezuela. She spent much of her childhood moving between countries—living in places such as Canada, Chile, South Africa and Colombia—as her family relocated for work. Growing up in that international setting, she picked up languages and experiences that later supported her modeling and design career.

From an early age Amanda developed an interest in sport and the arts. She began playing tennis at eight and by her mid-teens had turned her attention toward fashion. She later studied fashion design in Rome, Italy, and is fluent in Spanish, English and Italian.

Career

Amanda first gained national recognition when she was crowned Miss Venezuela in October 2021, representing the state of Mérida. That victory led to her representing Venezuela at the Miss Universe 2022 competition, where she finished as first runner-up.
