Early life and background

Amir Bhaskar, known professionally as Amir ADS, was born on 15 July 1992 in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. He grew up in a middle-class family and completed his schooling at Boys Corporation School Ramanathapuram Kovai before attending SNS College of Technology in Coimbatore. From an early age he developed an interest in dance, teaching himself by watching performances on television and practicing regularly. He has said in interviews that his mother supported his choice of a career in choreography.

Career

Amir began appearing on television as a contestant in the Tamil dance reality show Ungalil Yaar Prabhudeva in 2009. Building on that exposure, he founded ADS (Amir Dance Studio) Crew Ooty, where he trains students across multiple dance styles. Several dancers who trained under him have gone on to compete on prominent reality shows.

As a choreographer, Amir worked with film and television projects across South India. His early film choreography credits include the Malayalam film Team 5 (2017) and the Tamil films Yenda Thalaiyila Yenna Vekkala (2018) and Aaradi (2019). He also choreographed teams on competitive television: in 2017 he led ADS Boys and ADS Girls on Kings of Dance Season 2, with the girls’ team finishing as first runner-up. In 2019 his ADS team won the Indian Hip Hop Dance Championship, and in 2021 he choreographed for Dance Vs Dance Season 2 on Colors Tamil.

Television appearances increased Amir’s public profile. In 2021 he was a contestant on Bigg Boss Tamil season 5. Following that stint he partnered with Pavani Reddy on the couple reality series BB Jodigal in 2022; the pair won that season. Amir has also served as a judge on various dance shows and taken part in stage performances and music videos, including choreography credits on the Tamil singles Victory and Baila Kapasa.

In film, Amir made an on-screen appearance in the 2023 Tamil action-heist feature Thunivu, playing a character named Jijo. The film, which also featured Pavani Reddy, was released on Netflix. After his Bigg Boss participation he began writing a script for a directorial debut in which he plans to direct and play the lead opposite Pavani Reddy; shooting had begun as of 2023.

Amir launched a clothing label called Meesakar in 2018. He received the Rising Star Award from the Fefka Dancers Union in 2017 and has registered a Limca Book of Records entry for dancing continuously for seven hours. Beyond choreographing and performing, he has taught and mentored dancers who have gone on to competitive success.
