Early life and backgroundAmit Mistry was born in Mumbai in 1974 and grew up in the city he would continue to call home. He completed his graduation after studying at Narsee Monjee College in Vile Parle, Mumbai. Known to enjoy music, Mistry played the guitar and counted listening to music among his pastimes. He was also a follower of the spiritual organisation Brahma Kumaris.
Career
Mistry began his professional life in the performing arts as a theatre artist, appearing in a range of Hindi and Gujarati stage productions. He transitioned into screen work at the turn of the millennium, making his film debut in Kya Kehna (2000) and his television debut in the serial Ssshhhh… Koi Hai (2001).
Across the 2000s and 2010s Mistry built a diverse résumé in film and television. His film appearances included roles in Ek Chalis Ki Last Local (2007), Shor in the City (2010), Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), Bey Yaar (2014) and A Gentleman (2017).
