Early life and background

Amol Ramsing Kolhe was born on 18 September 1980 in Narayangaon, Pune, Maharashtra. He completed his schooling at Apte School in Pune and went on to study medicine, earning an MBBS from King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College in Mumbai. He grew up in Narayangaon, which remains listed as his hometown.

Career

Kolhe began his on-screen career in Marathi television and film. His television debut came with a role in Chhatrapati Shivaji in 2008, and he established a strong association with historical and biographical dramas. He became widely known for portraying Chhatrapati Shivaji in the Star Pravah series Raja Shivchatrapati and later took on roles in programs such as Chhatrapati Sambhaji, Swarajyarakshak Sambhaji, and Swarajya Janani Jijamata.

In cinema, Kolhe's Marathi film debut was Mee Amruta Boltey (2008). He followed that with appearances in Rajmata Jijau (2011), Rama Madhav (2014) and Bola Alak Niranjan (2019). In 2022 his name was linked to the film Why I Killed Gandhi, in which he portrayed Nathuram Godse; Kolhe has said the part was filmed in 2017 and that production delays meant its release came years after he worked on it.

Amol Kolhe entered active politics as a campaigner before contesting elections.
