Amruta Deshmukh was born on 31 January 1992 in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. Raised in a family active in theatre, she grew up surrounded by stagecraft: both of her parents, Satish and Vaishali Deshmukh, are theatre artists and her brother Abhishek Deshmukh also works as a Marathi actor. She completed her schooling at Vivekanand Pratishthan-BGSV in Jalgaon before pursuing higher studies in Pune, where she attended Sir Parashurambhau College and the Ranade Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism. Her academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Amruta moved to Mumbai after finishing her postgraduate diploma in journalism to pursue acting professionally. She began appearing on Marathi screens in 2013, making her television debut with a cameo on Star Pravah’s Pudhcha Paaul and entering Marathi cinema the same year with Baburaola Pakda. Early television work included a role as Vaidehi in Asmita (2014) and parts in shows such as Tumcha Amcha Same Asta (2015), Deva Shappath (2018), Mi Tujhich Re (2019), and Aathshe Khidkya Naushe Dara (2020).

On the film side, after her 2013 debut she acted in Kalakaar and The Beloved (2014), followed by Ek Kutub Teen Minar (2018) and Pathrakhin Mazi Aai Lakshmi (2018). In 2020 she played the lead in Sweety Satarkar, a role that earned her the Zee Talkies Comedy Award that year for Best Actress.

Beyond acting, Amruta is a radio jockey at 98.3 Mirchi, Pune. Her work on air was recognized in April 2022 when she was named performer of the month for Radio Mirchi Maharashtra.
