For higher education she attended Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in Pune and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany.

Her family includes her father, Manikrao Dhongade, who works with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation in Pune, her mother Smita Dhongade, and an elder sister named Puja Dhongade. She follows Hinduism and is known to use the nickname Soni.
