Early life and background

Anant Vijay Joshi was born on 26 October 1989 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Raised with a connection to Almora, Uttarakhand, he completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya School in Hazratpur and holds a bachelor’s degree. Joshi developed creative interests early on; his hobbies include painting, embroidery, cycling, playing the ukulele and singing. He has also trained professionally in flamenco dance.

Career

Joshi began his acting journey in theatre, participating in productions such as Prabhash Chandra’s The Lost Dimension before moving into screen work. His early screen credits include a 2011 short film titled Woh 5 Din, which screened at the Malani Film Festival in the United Arab Emirates, and television roles that date back to the mid-2010s.

On television he appeared in shows including Zindagi Abhi Baaki Hai Mere Ghost (2015) as Ishaan Palekar, and he played Dev in Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka? (2017). In 2018 he took on the role of Lord Krishna in the mythological series Karn Sangini. His first film role came in 2019 with Mera Ram Kho Gaya, in which he portrayed Sahir.

Joshi has been active in the web series space as well. He featured in an episode of ALTBalaji’s Gandii Baat (2018) as Doodhnath and played the protagonist Bhaskar Tripathi in the 2019 web series Virgin Bhasskar. In 2018 he also appeared in the ZEE5 short film Svah: So be it! as Amit Khanna.

Over the following years he continued to build a presence on streaming platforms. In 2022 he starred in the Netflix series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein in a leading role, and he appeared as Aseem Dixit in the Netflix film Cobalt Blue. In 2023 he was part of the Netflix satirical comedy-drama Kathal, playing constable Saurabh Dwivedi opposite Sanya Malhotra.
