Anarkali Marikar was born on 8 February 1997 in Kochi, Ernakulam, Kerala. Raised in a family connected to the film world, she attended The Choice School in Thrippunithura before moving on to Mar Ivanios College in Thiruvananthapuram, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Mass Communication, and Video Production. She later pursued a one-year course in fashion design.

Her family includes her mother Lali P. M. (also known as Lali Ramla Muhammed), her father Nias Marikar, a stepmother Sumi Nias Marikar, and an elder sister, Lakshmi Marikar, who worked as a child actress and later as an assistant director. The family went through changes when her parents separated after many years of marriage; her father remarried in June 2021, a decision the family publicly accepted.

Career

Anarkali entered the Malayalam film industry in 2016 with Ganesh Raj’s coming-of-age film Aanandam, in which she played Darshana Maliakal and contributed narration. She has spoken about how a cinematographer’s recommendation led to her audition and casting for that role. After her debut, she appeared in a small role in the 2017 drama Vimaanam, portraying Gouri, the daughter of the lead character.
