Her parents were originally from Darjeeling; her father served in the Indian Army and the family moved to Hyderabad when she was an infant. Her father died when she was six. Anee grew up in Hyderabad and began learning to dance informally at local Ganesh pandal gatherings in the RMMS Society Ground.
